Annual General Meeting & CPE seminar

Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) elected the new Managing Committee for the year 2017 at their recently held 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park on Feb 26,2017. More than 100 members attended the meeting.

CA Gaurav Kakkar, was elected as the Chairman. He was earlier thevicechairman of the chapter in 2015-2016. The other members of the new Executive Committee are CA Rupalakshmi K Setty as Vice Chairperson, CA RukkaiyaPachisaas Secretary, CA Sandeep Chowdhary as Treasurer along with CA Nirlep Bhatt, CA Jithu Koshy, CA Abdul Nassar and CA Ankit Agarwal as Members of the Committee.

The outgoing Chairman CA Raja Gopalakrishnan presented the Chapter’s report for the year 2015-2016 highlighting the major achievements of the term and the members adopted the audited accounts of the Chapter.

The Election officer, CA George Isaac conducted the elections. Incoming Chairman CA Gaurav Kakkar then addressed the members, introduced the new Executive Committee and assured the members of an exciting year ahead filled with professional and social events.

Highlight of the evening apart from the AGM was the felicitation of CA Dr. R Seetharaman , one of the icons of the profession for his recent accomplishment on being conferred with PravasiBharatiyaSamman Award by The President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee. Veterean past chairman, CAMI Farid honoredCA Dr. R Seetharaman on behalf of the Chapter.

CA. R Seetharaman in his acceptance speech address appreciated the Management committee of the chapter for their accomplishments. He expressed his elated feeling of being honoured by this robust professional organisation.   He also emphasised that the learning experience in Chartered accountancy course has  equipped him to overcome the  challenges and been instrumental to   all his accomplishments. He shed light on the global economic scenarios and on how, India is amongst the most promising destinations for investments based on various macro-economic factors.

At the same event, the Chapter also held a seminar on the use of excel in financial modelling. The Speaker CA Vivek Kapoor enlightened the audience on tools and techniques within Microsoft excel and how they can be used effectively for complex financial modelling in a structured manner.
